Masseria Il Frantoio
The dazzlingly white Masseria “Il Frantoio” rises up in the countryside of Ostuni and is only a short car journey from the sea. It is in the heart of Puglia, a region with a mild and pleasant climate all year round.
Apart from a farm house it is also an agriturismo and a Bed & Breakfast. Most of the guest rooms are in the nineteenth century part of the house and are furnished with beautiful antiques and a great deal of care. Away from the bedrooms, it is in the kitchen that we do all we can to familiarise you with the gastronomic delights of our generous land.
With their high ceilings, large windows, en-suite bathrooms and original antique furniture of the house, the guest rooms are utterly charming. Each room is different from the next, they all have their original nineteenth century tiled floors and extremely comfortable wrought iron or wooden beds. Thanks to the thick white stone walls the rooms are kept cool during the summer and warm and cosy in the winter.
The restoration work that has been done at “Il Frantoio” has been carried out with a sensitive respect for the nature and history of the house. In order to preserve the homely “lived in” quality of the house which is revealed through the different rooms, their materials, furniture and the original internal room divisions, the restoration work and changes have been kept to a minimum. This is why there are only eight bedrooms, a result of our decision to offer quality over quantity. The rooms give way to utmost comfort and they all have attached bathrooms and central heating. Two of the rooms have their own private entrances off the courtyard, one has a large fireplace and another has an old but very efficient wood burning stove.
In the morning we serve breakfast downstairs in our warm and welcoming dining room whilst in the main house we have a comfortable reading salon and on the ground floor there is a television room. Out of all the wonderful things you can do in and around “Il Frantoio” one of the more noteworthy and recent options is the San Domenico golf course which is only 15 Km’s away or you could hire a boat with a skipper and go exploring the wonders of our coast.
